I like where Florida is going, no need to panic and shoot yourself in the foot with inflated contracts that you'll be stuck with 4-5 years from now when the kids start coming up. Florida fans just need to relax, try to still enjoy the game as fans of hockey even if they sh*t the bed for a few more years and know that in 5 years, you can actually have a shot at a cup on a yearly basis...Plus Conor MacDavid is gonna be the next Crosby, so it's a good time to be at the bottom.

That's cause Tallon overpaid the likes of Upshall and Fleishmen etc a couple of years ago. I don't think anyone would want to sign with Florida anyway. Staying pat is one thing, but when you have a bad team like Florida, you need to try to improve it now. Or do what Winnipeg just did and trade a 2nd round pick for a top 6 forward like Setoguchi. Tallon must be the worst gm in the league right now..

Well it's time for the annual roster chart. Shall we:

Fleischman/Barkov/Huberdeau
Bergenheim/Matthias/Versteeg
Upshall/Shore/Kopecky
Crabb/Goc/Winchester (Selleck, Butler, Howden)

Campbell/Kulikov
Gudbranson/Jovo
Weaver/Robak
Petrovic/Mottau

Marky
Clem

This is how we're going to line it up as of right now. It's not....... that........ bad. Listening to Tallon's conference call, it seems as though Jovo is going to be ready to go and will be healthy, so that is why I have him in the line up.

Tallon is REALLY hoping Matthias steps up and has a career year, and so am I. He better.

Goaltending in my opinion still needs to be addressed. We also could use a second line left winger and a veteran D.

It's not horrible. It really isn't.. We have some decent depth. But we are going to be facing some powerhouses in our new division. I hope we're ready.

Florida was smart to not get involved in this nonsense today.

He has nothing to do with it. Our owners are being way too stingy.

Lol. Seeing your team allegiance, I'm not surprised at this shortsighted opinion. Since Flash has been the leading scorer on the team since his arrival, I'm fine with that signing. And the Division Championship banner hanging in the BB&T from two seasons ago looks pretty good. I think he's done just fine. You just happen to be in the 1% that wouldn't agree. When the youngsters and organizational depth he created start producing on a year to year basis in a few years what will you say then?

I've said before too, I like the team, but for people to be comfortable thinking that Shawn IS a first line center, or that a 17 year old kid is taking that responsibilty and logging those minutes is insane. Matthias has a fire lot under his ass and that's good, but there has to be a number one center addressed on this team.

Also, I know he's not hall of fame worthy, but is "D" was so much in question, then why give an upstart guy like Brennan up for a box of biscuits? Makes no sense sometimes.

Weiss has my good wishes, but really and I hate to say this... To me, he became a non factor. He's a good "complimentary player" and that's why he'll do well in Detroit.

Unfortunately, right now Barkov and Matthias are 1 and 2 on the depth chart.

Keep building and spend on free agency when it is actually worth it to do so. This wasn't the year to beef your team up through free agency. There wasn't one A-rated player in this market and some of the deals given were simply stupid.

Stephen Weiss is not a $5 million per year player,

In a way, you may be right...but in another more accurate way, you're wrong. You're worth watever someone will pay.

Barkov is only a kid by age. He played against MEN; former NHLers in the Finnish Elite League.. and he dominated them. Broke scoring records. He will be fine.

Dan,

Stop sugarcoating the situation. To compete in this league and our own division you should not have Matthias as your #1 center. He's a good player but lets not kid ourselves, he's a 3rd line center at best. Steeger and flash are probably rolling their eyes, Barkov is probably considering going AWOL and ditch coming to America only to play for a 20 win team in a full 82 game schedule. Sorry but this rebuild is a failure and players like Huberdeau will be ruined because of it.

And when he played against kids during the world juniors he disappeared. Probably because he plays against slow, old guys in Finland who can't play in the NHL. Huge mistake to just plop him in the NHL at age 17. They did the same thing to Olesz and he never had over 30 points in a season.

Most "knowledgeable hockey prognosticators" say Sasha needs third or fourth line minutes to mature initially. What you quoted was what the organization touted about him.

Just having Crabb on the 4th line over Howden proves me correct on everything I've been saying. Even you realize that these "prospects" suck. Tallon has one good draft pick, huby, that's it.

Again.. I don't want that. I want him to play on the third line. Right now, we don't have a choice. Unless we put him on the second line and Matthias on the first.. Or unless we make a trade and acquire some real talent down the middle.
